Prohibition

From 1920-1933, the United States ban the consumption, distribution, and production of alcoholic beverages. This time period was known as Prohibition. People during the time risked what they had in order to consume alcohol, and even to sell it for profit. Bootleggers were people who illegally sold alcoholic beverages during the Prohibition. Speakeasies were areas, where they illegally sold these drinks for high profit. During this era people took advantage of the opportunity to make a huge profit.

Al Capone captured. He took control of the Prohibition era, making huge profits.

Wayne Bidwell Wheeler, a Prohibitionist, created the Anti- Saloon League.

William Hale Thompson, with the help of Al Capone, won his election as Chicago Mayor.
